Light Fields began as an attempt to understand color through systems rather than sight.

Developed through Hunt’s early experiments with digital imaging, the series uses pixels, mathematical patterns, and the RGB color space to construct non-objective compositions entirely within software. Objective numerical relationships offered an alternative way of navigating color—one built on structure rather than intuitive color judgment.

Though emphatically flat and digital, the compositions often produce optical sensations of depth, vibration, and space. Saturated forms set against neutral fields generate lingering afterimages, extending the compositions beyond the pixels actually present on screen. This tension between digital structure and human perception became central to the project. What began as an investigation of digital certainty became something more personal—an exploration of the distance between what can be measured and what can be seen.
